<image:title>About - About</image:title>
<image:caption>This site, Terence Mckenna.com, is intended as a central resource for legitimate information about the works of late psychedelic philosopher, Terence McKenna (1946-2000). It is managed by Terence’s daughter Klea McKenna on behalf of LUX NATURA, a family partnership of Terence’s kids, Finn and Klea and their mother, ethnobotanist Kathleen Harrison. Terence and Kat founded Lux Natura in 1976 as a small publisher for their earliest projects. It has since evolved and embraced the job of stewarding Terence’s legacy into the future. LUX NATURA’s mission is to preserve Terence McKenna's original work, elevate his message and collaborate on future projects. We are currently working on creating an archive of Terence’s life and work which will be available for research and will generate new releases and collaborations. You can learn more and donate to this effort here. The Bibliography accessible through this sites was generously created by librarian Chris Mays and the catalog of Terence’s personal library was created by Kevin Whitesides. We are grateful for the support of these dedicated scholars. And we are grateful for the generous support of Nostromo Foundation and the growing list of institutions and individual collectors who are generously sharing their materials in order to create a meaningful archive of Terence’s work: Library of Consciousness Omega Institute Paul Herbert / Dolphin Tapes Esalen Institute NY Open Center Alan Watts Foundation Chris Mays Kevin Whitsides Dennis McKenna Sara Hartley Erik Davis Botanical Dimensions Peter Bergmann Graham St John Jonathan Laliberte Bruce Dahmer Steve Stein / Better Listen Purdue University Archives & Special Collections If you would like to use Terence’s words in any form please read the “Rights & Permissions” section of this site. << Photo taken by Terence of his wife and children in 1984 while watching the eruption of Kilauea on the Big Island, Hawaii.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Librarian Chris Mays has created the web's largest list of references to books, articles, audio, video, interviews, and translations by and about Terence McKenna. Kevin Whitesides now manages this resource. These sources were gathered from 2000-2013. They include many translations of works into languages beyond English. We hope to bring this resource up-to-date when possible.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Projects - New Projects…</image:title>
<image:caption>ICPR 26 In June of 2026 Klea McKenna will present at ICPR, Europe’s biggest conference on psychedelic research: In this visual presentation, she will share potent gems from Lux Natura Archive’s thousands of letters, manuscripts, journals, photos, audio recordings and butterfly specimens. Klea candidly re-examines her father’s legacy and the aesthetics of the psychedelic subculture she was raised in. By tracing archival evidence of intellectual cross-pollination, she highlights the urgency of preserving the storied history of 20th century counterculture and the individual psychonauts that brought us this far. Tickets and program here. COMING THIS SUMMER & Fall: BLUE STREAK: A podcast about the life and work of Terence McKenna seen thru the Lux Natura Archive. Terence McKenna X Spacetime Continuum: A new album of a never-before-published, live concert will be released on vinyl, CD and digital download. Recent books by other artists and scholars: Strange Attractor: The Hallucinatory Life of Terence McKenna An intellectual biography of one of the most celebrated and yet least understood figures of the late twentieth century. Written by Graham St John and published by MIT Press. Available here. High Weirdness: Drugs, Esoterica, and Visionary Experience in the Seventies An exploration of the emergence of a new psychedelic spirituality in the work of Philip K. Dick, Terence McKenna, and Robert Anton Wilson. Written by Erik Davis and published by MIT Press. Available here. The Butterfly Hunter Terence’s daughter, visual artist Klea McKenna, created a limited edition artist book in collaboration with her father’s memory and the thousands of lepidoptera specimens that he collected from 1968-1972. Author Erik Davis called The Butterfly Hunter “A remarkable visual meditation on time, loss, and the culture of nature”. It is available here and her work is viewable here: www.kleamckenna.com Photo taken by Kathleen Harrison in Oakland, CA 1975. >></image:caption>
